Indigenous Community Volunteer in Aurukun
Maurice Hermann left his job to take up a secondment with the Aurukun Aboriginal community on the Cape York Peninsula working under an agreement between and the Department of Defence and Indigenous Community Volunteers (ICV).
Education to Employment scheme
The scheme increases training and employment opportunities for Indigenous youth in Queensland by encouraging them to complete Year 12 and then progress to tertiary education and/or employment in their chosen vocation.
Sunshine Coast Reconciliation Group (Caloundra)
The group works on a range of practical reconciliation initiatives including producing a bibliography of library held publications which relate to local Indigenous history, sending letters to local papers in response to racist events and comments, and tutoring Aboriginal students.
Traditional Owners’ and Travellers’ Tales – stories to inspire reconciliation
A series of three stories of Aboriginal elders that were performed by Mariposa Cultural Folk Dancers and with Judy Pippen, a Community Development Worker with Bundaberg Community Development Inc.
A gift of presence – spirit of reconciliation
Reconciliation was given a new dimension with the State Library of Queensland's Centenary exhibition A Gift of Presence - spirit of reconciliation.
