Message from the Premier
Reconciliation is about using our knowledge of the past to help Queenslanders grow, mature, advance and provide better opportunities for all.
We all need to be proactive in encouraging partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Queenslanders in all areas of business, industry, government and the community.
Reconciliation is a priority for the Smart State. My Government is committed to fostering Indigenous leadership and rewarding those who are taking positive action toward advancing reconciliation.
Last year, I had the great pleasure of meeting the Young Indigenous Leaders and the winners and finalists of the Reconciliation Awards for Business. The experience was inspirational as they exemplified the spirit of, and commitment to reconciliation in our great State.
I was thrilled to see the variety of initiatives being implemented across Queensland and look forward to seeing the energy and talent once again in 2008.
I encourage all Queenslanders to nominate a young leader to get involved in the Young Indigenous Leaders Forum, learn about business best practice, or be recognised in the Reconciliation Awards for Business.
Let’s all be proactive about reconciliation – it’s everyone’s business.
