The Queensland Government Reconciliation Actions
Three key Queensland Government activities will give Indigenous and non-Indigenous Queenslanders opportunities to work together for a better future:
The business forum will involve businesses, community groups and government. The forum will showcase and develop initiatives for advancing reconciliation, based on business partnerships.
The awards will promote employment and business opportunities for Indigenous people within the private sector and recognise and encourage efforts by business to work jointly with Indigenous communities on the development of business enterprises.
The Young Indigenous Leaders' Forum will draw together Indigenous leaders from communities across Queensland to learn about leadership, develop leadership skills, share leadership experiences and network with other young leaders.
In addition, the Queensland Government will spread the message across the State and encourage all Queenslanders to participate in whatever way they can.
The strategy reflects recommendations from both the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation and the Council of Australian Governments, as agreed in 2000 following an extensive Australia-wide consultation process.
