Reconciliation Business Forum
The 2009 Reconciliation Business Forum was held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday 9 July 2009.
This year's forum included:
- a question and answer panel about wealth creation, which covered questions such as how to survive in business during the global financial downturn and marketing your business for expansion
- a speed-networking circuit, with representatives from more than 160 business
The forum brings together a number of influential and key community, government and business figures to focus on the business opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland by:
- building on the progress and networks established at previous forums
- bringing together community, business, industry and government representatives to discuss the economic and social benefits and opportunities of reconciliation
- providing an opportunity for business leaders and the Indigenous community to identify possible economic development opportunities
- allowing government to outline policies and programs that can assist in developing partnerships and progressing economic development opportunities
- providing opportunities to identify and highlight best business practices
- focusing on important aspects in providing impetus to Indigenous economic development
Previous forums have led to the development of partnerships between Indigenous communities and business and between Indigenous communities who are involved in similar business operations.
