Steve Renouf’s hints and tips for your nomination
This year, the Reconciliation Awards for Business is easier than ever to enter. The nomination form now only requires you to respond to four basic questions on your organisation, and your initiatives.
Nominations are open to businesses and community organisations operating in Queensland. It doesn’t matter how big or small your business or organisation is - everyone is encouraged to apply.
Read through some of my tips below to make sure your application is the best it can be!
- It seems simple but make sure you answer each question in full. Some nominations don’t answer a particular question or don’t answer it correctly
- Don’t be shy - make sure you sell your organisation and initiative as much as you can
- What you may think is usual practice, might be the best nomination!
- Do not assume that the judges are aware of your company, its products and successes
- Make sure your comments are concise and relevant; dot points can be used to identify your key strengths and strategies
- Supporting material is important and can really add to your submission
- Consider using a graphic designer to help present your submission in a professional manner
- Make sure you describe your company in your application by highlighting your strengths, detailing how special your achievements have been
Ensure that you include all the information required. If you are unsure exactly what is required, make sure you view the checklist. When you have written your application, get somebody else to read it to make sure you have covered everything.
